Tattoo (tΔƒ-to͞oβ€²)

  1. A permanent mark or design made on the skin by a process of pricking and ingraining an indelible pigment or by raising scars.
  2. A design made on the skin with a temporary dye such as henna or ink.

[From Tahitian tatau and kindred Polynesian words, all from Proto-Polynesian *tatau.]

Before You Tattoo

  • Eat right before your tattoo appointment (session can last hours and a full belly will help you get through it).
  • Shower and brush teeth. Your tattoo artist will be getting close to you. No one wants to smell body odor or stank breath.
  • Bring cash. Some artist accept cash only.
  • Mentally prepare. Find your Zen and get your mind in the right place before going under the needle. But do this without drugs or alcohol.
  • Bring your driver’s license. It will be copied to your paperwork.
  • Be prepared to tip. But only if you are happy with your new tattoo.
  • Wear appropriate clothing. For example, if your tattoo will be going on your thigh then don’t wear skinny jeans.
  • Always look at your artist’s tattoo work so that you know you got the right person for the job.
  • Let your artist know if you plan on using any gift certificates or coupon before negotiating price.

About

Jake Eaves is a licensed, professional tattoo artist currently tattooing out of Wicked Eyes Tattoo in Rossville, GA. Jake is a concept artist that specializes in custom, illustration and realism style tattoos.

β€œI’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember. Originally…I wanted to be an illustrator. I have a background and education in advertising art and fine art but, my heroes in the art world are in the comic book industry. I was very fortunate to land a legitimate tattoo apprenticeship and I fell in love with tattooing. Now, every day I strive to become a better artist and every tattoo is better than the last. The men and women I tattoo are incredibly loyal and they each know that the most important thing to me is giving them that best tattoo possible.”
